The start of spring means lighter evenings and better weather, use them wisely! Working out at the gym is great, but it doesn’t beat the rush you get from working up a sweat in the fresh air. Head out for a run, dust off your bicycle or brave the cold sea for an evening swim.
Switch it up
If you tend to focus on weights or cardio, switch it up by introducing things you usually leave out. If you’re a lifter, try going for a run for 15 minutes a day and gradually build this up so that you get a more rounded routine. If you prefer cardio, try introducing simple resistance exercises such as squats, planks and dumbbells until you feel more able to bring in more complex routines.
Try something new
There is no better way to meet new people and push yourself than by trying something completely out of your comfort zone. If you’ve always fancied yoga or HIIT sessions, now is a great time to find out what it’s like. Take a friend along with you if you feel nervous! It doesn’t have to be limited to fitness classes, anything that gets you moving is a start. From roller skating to surfing, there is a whole world of new fitness hobbies out there!
